Rediscover the Art of Film Photography

At Dodge-Chrome, we understand the value of your cherished memories captured on film. Our expert technicians use a meticulous, hands-on approach to develop and preserve your film negatives, ensuring the highest quality results. Our traditional dip and dunk services earned us the reputation of being the professional’s lab of choice. We also offer a variety of services after your film is produced such as film proof scans, machine prints, and contact sheets.  Along with this, we offer high end scans and fine art prints. More information on these services here.

What we offer

Dodge-Chrome offers a variety of film processing services. We offer C-41, BW, and E-6 processing for 35mm, 120, and 220 rolls, as well as 4x5, 5x7, and 8x10 sheets. All film that we receive is processed in our Silver Spring location. It is never shipped overseas, and you will always get your negatives back.

Why do I want my negatives?

Your negatives are your original files! You would never throw away an original painting, even if you have had it scanned, so why throw away your film? 4x6 proof prints and proof scans are not the best scans and prints you can get from your film. They are a great start for viewing, but if you ever want to make a large print or scan, you will need your original film! If you really do not want your negatives, we can dispose of them for you, but we'll be a little sad doing it.

Note: We do not process Kodachrome, Advantix, or Velvia 100 film.

Machine Proofs

Machine Proofs are our version of "proof prints". Printed off of our Fuji Dx100 printers, our proofs are available in 3.5×5, 4×5, 4×6 and 5×7 sizes, glossy or matte surfaces, and with or without a 1/8″ white border.

What is a proof print and why do I want one?

Our proof prints are photographic prints for you to get an easier view of what is actually on the film you shot. Great for viewing your family photos printed out, or more on the art side, they are a goo way for getting a preliminary look at your shots before you decide to get higher resolution scans and larger prints from your film.

Contact Sheets

We offer contact sheets for all film formats that we process, including 35mm, 120, and 220 rolls, and 4x5, 5x7, and 8x10 sheets. Color Negatives are scanned on our flatbed scanners, laid out like a classic contact sheet, and printed on a high-gloss Epson paper. B&W contacts are printed in the darkroom using an Ilford Multigrade RC photo paper and B&W Ilford chemistry. Contact sheets vary in size but are typically around 8.5x11.

What is a contact sheet and why do I want one?

A contact sheet is a single print or page containing small, thumbnail-sized reproductions of multiple photographs or images from a roll of film or a batch of digital image files. It serves as a quick reference or visual index of the images. It is the "bulk" print version of a proof print, allowing you to see all the images on your roll of film, while not having to get individual prints of each. These are typically for when someone has a lot of film that they want to view easily.
